Emergency Kits & Inclement Weather

Hello everyone!

It’s that time of the year where inclement weather becomes a real concern in our area. Please take some time to look over these resources to prepare yourself in the unfortunate event that you are stranded in a vehicle, or even at home, due to dangerous weather conditions.

These resources will provide information on how to create an emergency supply kit. It’s suggested that you keep an emergency kit in your home and in any vehicles you regularly use.

Stay safe!

Lowe’s Heroes Volunteer Project

Head Start of La Porte County would like to give a huge thank you to Michigan City Lowe‘s and the Lowe‘s Heroes volunteer program for the volunteer work they recently provided to our program at Niemann Elementary School. 14 volunteers provided a combined total of over 100 hours of volunteer work in a single day!

They cleaned up the interior courtyard at Niemann and fully painted two of our classrooms, and provided some additional touch up painting in other classrooms.

In addition to all of this, they were kind enough to donate some equipment so we can continue to maintain the interior courtyard, and paint for future touch ups!

We’d like to give a big thank you to Jay, Mike and Ron from Michigan City Lowe‘s, who helped to coordinate this project from the start, and of course all the volunteers who came in and got the project completed!

Excited for the 2018-2019 school year!

Hello everyone!

We’ve been very busily preparing for the new school year all summer, and we can’t wait to begin this new year with both our returning and new families and children!

Keep an eye on our website and our Facebook page where we will be posting event schedules and other information in the coming weeks.

We hope everyone has had a great summer thus far! Remember to stay cool and hydrated in that heat!

See you soon,
