The Health Service Dept. of CCC Head Start of LaPorte County is committed to helping families get access to quality and continuous health care. We track your children’s healthcare needs, including well-child checks, dental exams and treatment, immunizations and other necessary health requirements such as hemoglobin testing (checks for anemia) and lead testing. We also provide referrals for services that your child may need such eye doctors, dentists, social and emotional well-being, and pediatricians. We can also refer you to agencies that will help families secure health insurance, promotes breastfeeding, parent social and emotional well-being, and caregiver health. We understand that children need healthy caregivers in order to live a healthy life.
There are some expectations that we have from our parents/caregivers. You must provide a current physical completed by a licensed doctor, physician’s assistant or nurse practitioner. Head Start also requires us to track any treatment that your child receives such as dental fillings, extractions, etc., follow up testing for failed hearing, vision, lead and hemoglobin testing. It is the responsibility of the parents/caregivers to not only make follow up appointments for treatment, but to provide us with a copy of that treatment. As always, if you need any assistance in getting the treatment completed, please contact us at 219-873-2146 ext. 6726 for information on transportation assistance or any other questions you may have or if you are having difficulty getting the treatment completed. Please remember, we are here to help, but we can’t help if you don’t reach out, please call anytime.
